Finance Reporting Training


The goal of the1.5 hour training is to provide attendees with knowledge and understanding of the features deployed in the new Finance Reporting Application using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).


Topics to be covered:

  1. Overview of the Data warehouse
  2. Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) Answers and Dashboard
  3. OBIEE Security
  4. Dashboards and Reports
  5. Demo of the General Fund and Grants and Contracts Dashboards

If time permits, hands-on exercises


Audience:

  1. FMS Users who are generating custom financial reports
  2. PIs and PIAs accessing online weekly/monthly reports via IDS


Workshop and Hands-On-Lab -

1) Novice Users

The one-hour session will provide a review of the features of the new Finance Reporting Application and guide users in the step-by-step process of accessing reports needed by the participants. Also, the session will help users interpret delivered reports with the assistance of Fiscal Affairs' accountants. Users will be able to download data and perform basic manipulation for data analysis and projection. The ultimate goal is to make the training relevant to each participant as they learn in their own fully functioning environment.

Prerequisites - The attendee should have attended the Finance Reporting Training.

2) Principal Investigators (PI) / PI Assistants

The one-hour session will provide a review of the features of the new Finance Reporting Application and guide users in the step-by-step process of accessing reports needed by the participants. Also, the session will help users interpret delivered reports with the assistance of Fiscal Affairs' accountants. Users will be able to download data and perform basic manipulation for data analysis and projection. The ultimate goal is to make the training relevant to each participant as they learn in their own fully functioning environment.

The focus will be on Grants and Contracts' dashboard.

Prerequisites - The attendee should have attended the Finance Reporting Training.

3) Power users

This one-hour session will provide a review of the features of the new Finance Reporting Application and guide users in developing ad-hoc reports and using more advanced features. With the assistance of Fiscal Affairs' accountants, users will be able to clarify department/project financial data issues and have their questions answered. Users will be able to download data and perform basic manipulation for data analysis and projection. The ultimate goal is to train experienced FMS users into power users of the new reporting solution so they will become resources for their colleagues in their departments.

Prerequisites - The participants should have attended the Finance Reporting Training and are proficient FMS reports users.
